In the News 05/05/2020 - UAH Boosts Search for COVID-19 Drugs Using HPE Cray Sentinel Supercomputer

​University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) professor of biological science Dr. Jerome Baudry is collaborating with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to use HPE’s Cray Sentinel supercomputer to search for natural products that are effective against the COVID-19 virus. The UAH and HPE partnership is in addition to the Baudry Lab’s collaboration with a COVID-19 compound search led by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Tennessee and the lab’s work with the Alabama Supercomputer Center.

In the News 04/26/2020 - Coronavirus Accelerates Alabama’s Access to Telemedicine

In early 2020, Senate Minority Leader, Bobby Singleton (D - Greensboro) reached out to the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) and Alabama Supercomputer Authority (ASA) to work together on rural healthcare pilot program to help resolve the issue of underserved populations facing access barriers to healthcare.. A pilot project was planned to access Federal funding through the FCC Rural Health Care Program to help fund internet access to healthcare facilities.
