Fully Coupled Thermo-Mechanical Analysis
Dissipation of heat generated by friction between pad and disk in a disk brake system is critical for effective performance.
Temperature changes cause axial and radial deformation which affects the contact between the pads and disk.
Contact affects temperature, and temperature distorts the parts, which affects contact. The disk brake system is, therefore, fully coupled.
The problem is solved using the fully coupled thermo-mechanical analysis capability in ABAQUS/Standard.
