Ethernet: Current Baseline
Layer 2 switches (Ethernet, FastE, GigE)
- Switching decisions are made based on MAC address
- Segments network into separate collision domains
- No more 5-4-3 rule
- Broadcasts are still heard by all hosts (1 bcast domain)
- Does not affect IP subnetting
