E-Rate Funding

The Universal Service Fund for Schools and Libraries, popularly known as the "E-Rate," provides all public and private schools and libraries access to affordable telecommunications and advanced technologies. The E-Rate means that the rate or level schools and libraries pay for services (telecommunications services, Internet Access and internal connections) is discounted. Discounts are based on the number of students eligible for the National Free Lunch Program. Schools and libraries in low-income urban communities and rural areas qualify for the highest discounts.

The Internet services that AREN provides are eligible services under the E-Rate program for discounts of 20%-90%. AREN will issue a discounted bill for the services to the schools and libraries. E-Rate pays the discounted amounts directly to AREN. AREN has participated in E-Rate each of the past nine E-Rate funding years as a member of a consortium as well as by assisting over forty-six schools and libraries in applying for and receiving E-Rate discounts for Internet services. If your school is interested in applying for E-Rate discounts our staff will be happy to provide a quote for AREN Internet services during your bid process.
