ASA Agreement
for Activation of CIPA Content Filtering

ASA Agreement for Activation of CIPA Content Filtering I hereby request that the Alabama Supercomputer Authority (ASA) activate content filtering service for my Internet web access. This content filtering service will serve as the "Technology Protection Measure" required under the CIPA regulations.

As stated in ASA Policy #21, I understand that utilizing ASA's content filtering service does not, by itself, make my school system compliant with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA). I understand that additional steps are required of my school system or library. These steps include, but may not be limited to, the development of an "Internet Security Policy" and the convening of a public hearing to discuss the Technology Protection Measure and the Internet Security Policy.

I understand that no content filtering service is 100% effective and that the ASA content filtering service attempts to block inadvertent access to inappropriate web sites. ASA will strive to provide a content filtering service that is useful and current and will attempt to address problems where the content filtering service is deficient. However, ASA assumes no liability in the event the filter is not 100% effective. ASA also assumes no responsibility for the currency of the content filtering service or the content provided through it.

I understand that ASA's content filtering service is provided at the state's expense, and individual school systems that are Alabama Research and Education Network (AREN) clients may use this content filtering service. I understand that additional Technology Protection Measures can be used in conjunction with the ASA solution at the discretion of any AREN client.

I have read ASA Policy #21, AREN CIPA Content and the AREN Content Filtering FAQ" and understand the capabilities and limitations of ASA's content filtering solution as stated in these documents. I also agree that my school system will abide by the policies and procedures delineated in these documents.

I understand that CIPA requires filtering of visual depictions that are obscene, contain child pornography, or are harmful to minors. I accept ASA's default filtering profile for all content filtering with the understanding that additional profiles may also be made available for my optional use.
